Recent incidents of attacks on BJP-RSS workers in some Uttar Pradesh districts and an episode in Agra where Hindutva activists allegedly beat up some cops are learnt to have figured in a meeting between Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and top RSS functionaries.
In the first such meeting after Adityanath assumed charge as UP CM, the RSS and BJP functionaries also deliberated on ensuring better synergy among the government, the party and the various off-shoots of the 'Sangh parivar'.
Recent incidents of alleged attacks on RSS and BJP workers in Saharanpur, Basti and Mathura and an incident in Agra, where right wing activists allegedly attacked police came up for discussion, according to a senior BJP leader.
BJP leaders Om Mathur, Ramlal, senior RSS office bearers including Joint General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale, Dr Krishna Gopal (who co-ordinates with BJP) and 'pracharaks' Alok and Shiv Narayan were present in the meeting.
Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Dinesh Sharma also attended the meeting.
Names of RSS and BJP office bearers who could be appointed to the various posts of chairman of corporations and commissions, the proposed Bundelkhand Vikas Board and Purvanchal Vikas Board, were also discussed, it is learnt.
Deliberations were also held on revamping of UP unit of the BJP keeping in mind the upcoming civic body polls in the state where the ruling party will be faced with the challenge of retaining its grip over the electorate.
