A meeting of BJP's Bihar election committee to discuss the strategy for Rajya Sabha and state Legislative Council polls, would be held at the party's state headquarters here on Monday.
Biennial elections will be held on June 11 to fill five Rajya Sabha seats from Bihar while seven seats of Legislative Council will be filled on June 10.
"The BJP will discuss its strategy vis-a-vis biennial Rajya Sabha and Legislative Council polls. The party will deliberate all aspects of elections such as how many candidates the party can put up, who are the probable candidates," State BJP President Mangal Pandey told PTI.
Given the respective strengths of parties in the state assembly, the JD(U) and RJD together could win two seats each, leaving one for the BJP in the Rajya Sabha while in legislative council polls, the Mahagathbandhan (grand alliance) of JD(U), RJD and Congress seem set to clinch five seats together. The BJP is assured of one seat.
The seventh seat may witness elections depending on various possible permutations of the surplus votes of various parties and four independents.
All the five Rajya Sabha seats falling vacant belong to the JD(U).
As for the seven legislative council seats falling vacant, the share of JD(U) is four, of BJP two, and one to the RJD.
Apart from the meeting of state election committee, the party would also hold deliberations between Pradesh office bearers, district election incharge, district presidents, presidents of various manch and morchas, district incharge and party's Pradesh spokesmen the same day i.E. Monday (May 23).
The meeting would discuss the various aspects of party organisation besides finalising its future programmes and policies, Pandey said.
The meeting would be attended by party's national General Secretary-cum-Bihar incharge and Rajya Sabha MP Bhupendra Yadav, co-incharge C R Patil and Pawan Sharma and other prominent leaders of the state unit.
