A Birbhum court sent Nemai Das, a BJP member arrested in connection with a clash in which a local Trinamool Congress leader was seriously injured, to judicial custody today till October 27.
The order was passed by sub-divisional chief judicial magistrate Sanghamitra Poddar.
Das, believed to be close to Hriday Ghosh, the son of Sagar Ghosh who was killed at Parui in 2013, was arrested late on Sunday night after the clash at Albandha village in the district the night before between two groups in which a local TMC leader was seriously injured.
Hriday Ghosh and Das, rebel TMC members, had joined BJP several months ago.
In a separate case the Suri court rejected the anticipatory bail application of Sudipto Ghosh, the district president of Yuva Trinamool Congress who allegedly assaulted a police officer in the Bolpur police station on September 4.
