BJP workers march to HP assembly demanding CM's resignation

BJP today held protests and led a march to the Himachal Pradesh assembly complex here, demanding resignation of Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh following registration of disproportionate assets cases against him by CBI and Enforcement Directorate.
Top BJP leaders including former chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal, Union minister J P Nadda, state unit president Satpal Singh Satti and state in-charge Shrikant Sharma led the protest march through the town.
Singh has no moral right to continue after the registration of corruption cases against him and raids on his premises, they said, alleging that development in the hill state has come to a halt as the Congress government was busy in saving the chief minister.

Nadda said if Singh has any sense of morality left then he should resign. "He has no moral right to continue," he said.
Sharma hit out at the top Congress brass for not taking any action against Singh despite its high-decibel protests against the alleged cases of corruption involving some BJP leaders.
"On the one hand Sonia and Rahul Gandhi are protesting in Parliament over false allegations against out leaders and on the other hand they are keeping quiet on such a serious charge against Virbharda Singh. BJP wants to know what is their deal with him. Is there some financial deal?" he said.

Sharma said the fund allocation to the state had increased from Rs 21,000 crore to Rs 80,000 crore under the 14th Finance Commission but the state government was "incapable" of using it for development.
"The chief minister is focused on saving his chair. He has no interest in the state's development. It can happen only after he quits," he said.
The winter session of the Himachal Pradesh assembly started here on November 30 and will continue till December 4.
