After Supreme Court's six month breather to the residents of unauthorised flats in Campa Cola compound in South Mumbai, BMC today sent a notice asking them to vacate the premises by June 1, 2014.
In a letter addressed to the Chairman of 'Orchid', one of the buildings in the Campa Cola compound in Worli, a BMC officer asked to hand over the keys of occupants, who have surrendered their flats, as per Supreme Court's order in November 2013.
In November 2013, the Supreme Court had taken suo motu cognisance of media reports about demolition of the building and had stayed the action, ordering the BMC to delay its demolition until May 31, 2014.
More than 100 families have been residing in the housing complex for the past 25 years.
The letter stated that the BMC had made arrangements to collect keys of the premises from May 29 to June 2.
"On handing over the said keys, our staff will accompany you to take physical and vacant possession of the said premises on the same day.
"In the event of failure to hand over keys of the premises along with vacant physical possession by June 1, further legal action will be taken against you," the letter stated.
Flats were built without BMC permission and were hence declared illegal.
