BMC to shift its garbage van registration checkpost to Wadala

Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) informed the Bombay High Court today that it would shift a checkpost registering garbage vehicles from Telang Road in Matunga to R A Kidwai Marg in the city after complaints from residents.
However, a bench headed by Chief Justice Mohit Shah directed the BMC to shift the checkpost before December 31.
A group of residents had filed a petition alleging that BMC's Telang Road checkpost caused nuisance, since as many as 55 garbage vehicles which arrived daily for registration, stayed in the area for more than an hour.
Though the BMC temporarily shifted the checkpost to Flank Road near Shanmukhananda Hall at Kings Circle, residents of that area also complained of daily nuisance.

The civic body informed the High Court today that an alternative site at R A Kidwai Marg in Wadala had been earmarked and the checkpost would be shifted there soon.
The court asked the civic body to complete this task by the end of the year.
