Union Minister of Communications and Information Technology Kapil Sibal said that the importance of lyrics must return since there is more noise in today's Bollywood songs.
The honourable minister recently turned lyricist and penned seven songs, to collaborate with music maestro A R Rahman, for a musical video album titled 'Raunaq'.
The album was released today with Salman Khan as chief guest, in the presence of several personalities like Jatin Pandit, Adnan Sami, Amar Singh, Jayaprada and others, after a delay of two hours.
"I have composed lyrics for this album but they are not Bollywood style. There is more noise lately. I feel importance of lyrics in songs should come back. We don't find people like Sahir Ludhianvi," Sibal said, adding that Bollywood songs are a reflection of the current social scenario in our country.
"People must forget angst and opposition to be free and enjoy life," Sibal said, praising Rahman.
"I felt my lyrics had found their soul in his tunes. He is a simple man who is totally immersed in music. He is a genius. His tunes give life to my thoughts. When I penned these songs, I wanted them to be in the hands of someone who had consistency of thought and I think Rahman's music has that," he said.
