Bomb scare at Malda court premises

An abandoned school bag in the Malda district court premises today created panic among lawyers and other people as word spread that the bag could have explosives in it, which was later found to be a false alarm, the police said.
The bag was spotted abandoned near the Excise department office inside the court premises and the police were soon informed.
A large police contingent reached the area and vacated the entire premises. The bomb disposal squad was summoned and officers of the squad removed the bag after taking precautions.
"We have examined the bag and have found no explosives in it," said Sushanta Ghosh, an officer of the bomb disposal squad.
