The Bombay High Court today issued notice to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and sought to know what action it has taken or proposes to take under the provisions of Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) against former Mumbai Congress president Kripashankar Singh.
A division bench of justices R V More and Shalini Phansalkar-Joshi was hearing a petition seeking CBI probe against Singh for allegedly accumulating assets disproportionate to his known source of income.
On the last date of hearing, the court had directed the Maharashtra government to file a report on its probe against Singh.
Public prosecutor Sandeep Shinde today submitted the report and said it has forwarded details pertaining to money laundering to the ED.
The bench then issued notice to ED and said it wants to know what the agency proposes to do under the PMLA against Singh.
The court has posted the petition or further hearing after two weeks.
In 2013, a special investigation team of the Economic Offences Wing of the Mumbai police had registered FIR against Kripashankar for allegedly amassing wealth disproportionate to his known source of income following high court directions.
