The accused, identified as Surrendra, was a member of a gang of liquor smugglers active in Noida, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Hapur and Garmuketshwar areas, police said, adding that they had been looking for him for long.
Acting on a tip-off, police laid a trap and arrested him from near Milak Ravali Crossing of Muradnagar around 10 AM.
"Police have recovered 40 cartons of Haryana-made liquor from his possession. We are interrogating him about his accomplices," said a police officer.
The car which was being used to transport smuggled liquor has also been seized.
