Auto component maker Bosch Ltd today said it would cease operations at its Jaipur plant following a notice by Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board for alleged violation of norms regarding waste water treatment.
The company was served a notice by Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board (RSPCB) revoking the consent given to operate the plant, Bosch said in a BSE filing.
"Pursuant to the above, the company is compelled to close the operations at Jaipur plant from October 28, 2016," it added.
The production loss due the closure is approximately Rs 2.5 crore per day, Bosch said, adding the plant had a licence valid till February 28, 2017.
The revocation of the licence is for alleged "non-fulfillment of certain conditions with respect to waste water treatment and re-use of the treated water".
Bosch, however, said its management was confident that "the plant has been operating within the prescribed environmental norms and is cooperating with the authorities for an immediate relief".
"Due to ensuing Diwali holidays and to ensure smooth deliveries to customers, we are appealing to the government and authorities for forthwith withdrawal of the order," the filing said.
Further, the management is confident that routine operations will commence soon and the negative impact on the Indian automotive industry can be avoided.
Commissioned in 1999, the company's Jaipur facility is the is the lead plant for fuel injection pumps for diesel engines. It supplies to many major automobile manufacturers in India.
