An eight-year-old boy died of an
electric shock at a city locality, police said today.
Ayan Nijamuddin Sheikh was returning home along with his parents after praying at a mosque in Badi Darga locality last night when he suddenly came in contact with a high-power transformer, Bhadrakali police station in-charge Madhukar Kad said.
As the boy got stuck to the transformer, locals informed the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) officials, who later shut down the power supply, he said.
The boy was rushed to a hospital where doctors declared him dead, he added.
