The Jalandhar Police Commissionerate told PTI that the woman identified as Rajrani has registered a complaint in this regard.
The incident took place around the noon when she was sleeping in her room. Rajrani's son found that his mother's braid was chopped and woke her up before raising an alarm.
The police was informed, they said adding further probe in the matter is underway.
