Malayan of Thumbalpatti village in Salem District, who suffered head injury in a fall from a two-wheeler on May 30, was declared brain dead at the Kovai Medical Centre and Hospital (KMCH), two days after his admission.
With the consent of his family members, the liver, kidneys, heart, lungs and skin were harvested and sent for transplanation in patients at different hospitals.
Malayan is survived by his wife Vijayakumari, two daughters and a son.
KMCH Chairman Dr.Nalla G.Palaniswami, appreciated the noble gesture of Vijayakumari in coming forward to donate the organs of her brain dead husband.
