Brick-kiln worker gets 5-year RI for wife's murder

A local court has sentenced a brick-kiln worker to five years of rigorous imprisonment for murdering his wife in 2012.
Thane Additional Sessions Judge V V Virkar while pronouncing the sentence yesterday, held Bandhu Waghe(32) guilty of murdering his wife and also imposed a fine of Rs 1,000 upon him.
According to prosecution, the accused was a severe alcoholic and this led to frequent quarrels between the two-- Bandhu Girija Waghe and wife Sanju -- who were working in a brick-kiln at Godade village.
On March 7, 2012, the accused came home dead drunk and asked his wife to prepare fish for him. However, when the victim refused to oblige, he got annoyed and attacked her fatally with a log of wood.

The following day, a complaint was lodged in the Bhiwandi Taluka police station and based on the version of his two daughters, the accused was nabbed and tried for murder.
The court held him guilty under section 304(2) (Punishment for culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the IPC and sentenced him to five years' RI.
