Vehicular traffic was restored on the Rajouri Poonch National Highway after the Border Road Organisation (BRO) constructed a Bailey bridge on the stretch of the road that was washed away in floods two days ago.
"Around 60 ft of the road stretch was washed away by floods caused by heavy rainfall," an army Spokesman said.
He said that the BRO undertook the construction of the road stretch and braving all odds the construction of a Bailey bridge was completed today.
"The 80 feet Bailey bridge was construction in 36 hours under heavy rains with roads in the sector blocked due to landslides" he said.
He said that besides restoring the line of communication to Poonch, this bridge construction has facilitated the pilgrimage to the Buddha Amarnath shrine.
