Five activists of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), including Punjab General Secretary Jarnail Nangal, today ended their three-day hunger strike.
The activists ended their fast by sipping of juice offered to them by Punjab BSP President and party's Lok Sabha candidate from Hoshiarpur, Parkash Singh Jandali.
Besides Nangal, others activists who ended their fast include Gurmukh Singh Chana, Sukhwinder Singh Shergill, Kulwinder Kainth and Kala Parbhakar.
The ending of the hunger strike coincided with the death anniversary of BSP founder Kanshi Ram, who died in 2006.
Nangal said that their struggle will go on in other forms till their demands are accepted.
He said that the hunger strike was aimed at highlighting "anti-people policies" of the state government and some local issues, including development of areas populated by BPL families, regularisation of unauthorised colonies, action against colleges demanding fee from SC students.
