Two sisters were killed and four others seriously injured allegedly after a cooking cylinder exploded at Danpur village here, police said today.

The incident happened last evening when the explosion brought down a cement slab of a house, leaving Farida (15) and Alisha (3) buried and dead under the debris, Superintendent of Police (Rural) VK Tiwari said.

He said the house belonged to a person called Sabu and the deceased girls are his daughters.

While the house-owner has claimed the explosion was due to a cooking cylinder blast, the police suspect the premises was being used for making firecrackers.

A team of forensic experts has been called in from Agra to examine the cause of explosion and after its report, an FIR will be registered in the matter, the SP (Rural) added.
