Bullet misses target, kills innocent woman

A woman was shot dead by a bullet that was targeted to kill a man, stated to be Trinamool Congress worker, at Bhatpara under Jagaddal police station in North 24 Parganas district today.
DCDD of Barrackpore Commissionerate, Ajay Thakur, said Mohammad Kalimuddin was on the road when a shot was fired towards him by some anti-social elements.
However, the bullet missed the target and hit a woman, Rejina Khatun.
When Khatun was brought to the hospital, she was declared brought dead, Thakur said adding it was not yet known whether the incident had any relation with politics.
Local Trinamool Congress MLA, Arjun Singh, however, said Kalimuddin is a party worker and he was targeted by extortionists.

No arrest was made.
