Chairing a tourism development committee meeting here, District Collector Neha Giri yesterday said the department of Information and Technology has approved the service at selected places in the city.
She directed officials of tourism, municipal corporation departments to identify tourist spots in Bundi where WiFi could be accessed without any disturbance to traffic.
While Baalchandpara and Terrace garden have been selected for providing free WiFi, three more areas would be chosen to start off the facility, assistant Tourist Officer Prem Shanker Saini said.
Informing that Bundi becomes a passionate hunt for domestic tourists during monsoons, Saini said that efforts were on to promote monsoon tourism among foreign tourists.
According to data from the district tourist department, 50,788 domestic and 16,524 foreign tourists visited the city in 2012 while in 2013, the number stood at 50,539 domestic and 15740 foreign tourists.
In 2014 it saw footfall of 50,521 Indian and 15,085 foreign visitors. In the current year till April, 16,675 domestic and 6,830 foreign tourists have visited the city, Saini said.
