Attacking West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for virtually rejecting an NIA probe into the Burdwan blast, BJP today said she as an Union minister in 2009 had sought an NIA investigation in a case in which arms were found but was now opposing it despite national security implications involved.
"Her double standard in favouring NIA investigation in 2009 and opposing now is a clear signal of a major cover up," party Secretary Siddharth Nath Singh said in a statement.
Banerjee had advocated an NIA probe in the Vedic land deal at Rajarhat, Kolkata, because arms were found during the search, he said, adding that she is now resisting central investigation as the Chief Minister.
"It is just not arms but whole lot of IEDs, explosive chemicals, lathe machines, mobiles, downloaded explosive- making proofs and al Qaeda literature which have been found and still she is resisting NIA investigation," he said.
People have no faith in the state police, Singh added.
