Campaigning ends for Nagaland LS polls

The electioneering ended today for the lone Lok Sabha seat in Nagaland, election for which will be held on April 9.
Only three candidates are in the fray. The NPF has fielded Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, Congress' candidate is former minister KV Pusa and Akhei Achumi will be contesting on the ticket of the Socialist Party (India).
An electorate of 11,79,881 will cast their votes.
There are 2,059 polling stations spread across 60 Assembly constituencies in 12 districts, including Pughoboto sub-division, which is counted as an electoral district.
Voters will be using plastic EPICs.
The Election Commission has categorised 1,475 polling stations as normal, 407 as vulnerable and 177 as critical.

A total of 33 companies of the Central Armed Police Force have been deployed for peaceful conduct of the elections.

The forces include seven companies of Mizoram Armed Police, 10 companies of Tripura State Rifles, eight companies of CRPF and eight companies of BSF.
The Nagaland Armed Police, IR Battalion and around 2,200 village guards would also be deployed on the polling day.
The voting will be held from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm on April 9 in the state.
