Candidate abducted, murdered over poll-related rivalry

A 45-year-old man, who contested in recently concluded UP Panchayat election, was abducted and murdered allegedly over political rivalry here, police said today.
The victim, identified as Devesh Dixit, who contested Panchayat polls for the post of head of Ashapur village, was yesterday abducted over poll related rivalry, they said.
Dixit's body was recovered today from Handiya in Allahabad district, police said.
Dixit's family members have lodged a complaint against newly elected village head Sudhakar Dixit and his brother Dinkar, who were absconding, they said.
An investigation is on in the matter, police said.
