The complainant Jayakumar said he purchased the car in 2008 from the dealer in Tirunagar near here. The engine developed frequent snags in a few months and the dealer did not take any action to rectify it, he alleged, adding, he had returned it to the dealer seeking a new car.
However, the dealer neither repaid the money nor replaced the car.
Consumer court Judge Deivaraj directed the dealer to return the amount of Rs seven lakh and five thousand to the owner and pay a compensation of Rs 1.5 lakh for causing him anguish and anxiety.
