Car seat belt mandatory in Assam

The Assam government has made rules for compulsory use of seat belt in all types of vehicles to minimise accidental death due to non-usage of seat-belt.
The government has also directed to ensure fitting seat belt in all types of passenger vehicles including buses by April 15, 2015.
Further, no one can sell or hand-over any vehicle to any customer without pre-fitted seat belt device, said a Government release here today.
Such vehicles will not be entitled for registration, transfer of ownership or fitness certificate, etc.
