Carcasses of baby elephant, mother found in Simplipal

The carcasses of a new born elephant calf and its mother were found in Similipal Narional Park area, a forest official said.
The carcasses were found inside Alakudara forest limits under Gudugudia range inside Similipal sanctuary, divisional forest officer (DFO), Karanjia, Prasanna Kumar Behera said.
He, however, said the cause of the death was yet to be ascertained.
"We may know the reason behind the death of the mother elephant and her calf only after the post-mortem," he said.
The mother jumbo could be in the age group of 10 to 15 years, Behera said.
