Cardamom prices moved up by 0.24% to Rs 1,153.80 per kg in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions after pick-up in demand in spot markets.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in far-month April rose by Rs 2.80, or 0.24% to Rs 1,153.80 per kg in business turnover of 15 lots.

Likewise, the spice for delivery in March contracts edged up by Rs 1.30, or 0.12% to Rs 1,126 per kg in 206 lots.

Market analysts said fresh positions created by speculators driven by pick up in demand in the spot markets against tight supplies from producing regions mainly led to rise in cardamom prices at futures trade.
