A head constable has been booked for allegedly attempting to commit suicide by consuming poison in a women police station here.
Head constable Sharmila had attempted suicide yesterday and in her suicide note, she had accused SHO of the women police station Manisha and three others of forcing her to take the extreme step, police said, adding, she demanded action against them.
Sharmila is admitted to a hospital where her condition is stated to be critical, they said.
Her husband, Golu, has alleged that police have asked him not to give any statement and even tried to misplace the suicide note so that no action could be taken against the officials.
Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police Abhishek Jorwal said the head constable took the extreme step to create pressure on the department. She wanted to be posted to the investigation section and not PCR. But the decisions on posting are taken by the higher authorities, the SP said.
Even then, if she had any problem, Sharmila should have come to me and not taken such step, he added.
