Crime Investigation Department (CID) Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Ramanakumar told reporters here today that a police case has been registered against District Co-operative Central Bank's former chairman Kollam Bramhananda Reddy.
The case was registered against Reddy for allegedly committing financial irregularities in sanctioning loans and availing loans on bogus (benami) names.
As per government's directions, the CID is probing the case, the DIG said, adding that a detailed report would be submitted after completing the probe.
Answering a query, the DIG said that the probe was initiated based on a complaint filed by a few people, though he did not name the complainants.
The DIG said that verification of records is on and added that a departmental enquiry would also be carried out.
The accused Bramhananda Reddy happens to be the brother of Kollam Gangi Reddy, who is said to be a notorious red sanders smuggler as well as an accused in the Alipiri bomb blast case, in which Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu was injured.
