Cases of atrocities against women not being controlled: Pilot

Rajasthan Congress President Sachin Pilot today attacked the state government over rising cases of atrocities against women saying the state ranks second in the country despite Chief Minister Vasundhra Raje being a woman.
Addressing a public meeting in Alwar, Pilot said cases of atrocities against women are on the rise in Rajasthan and the situation is "not being controlled".
"The efforts that former UPA government made towards empowerment of women have been stalled by the BJP government. The state can progress only when the condition of women improves but the situation here is adverse," he said.
Pilot said all decisions which have hampered the growth will be changed if Congress is voted back to power.

Former chief minister of Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot said the state's image has suffered due to harassment of women.
"BJP government is solely responsible for this. All the public welfare schemes initiated by the former government have been dumped by the current government," he said.
Mahila Congress President Shobha Oza, former PCC President Girija Vyas, former union minister Jitendra Singh, Leader of Opposition in Rajasthan Assembly Rameshwar Dudi, former president of Mahila Congress Prabha Thakur and Rajasthan Mahila Congress President Shakuntala Rawat were also present in the meeting.
