The incident came to light when the house owner Rajendra Prasad returned home and found the locks broken, SHO Bhatta Basti Raghuveer Singh said.
"Some cash, jewellery and a mobile phone was stolen by the thieves. The matter is under investigation," Singh said.
In another incident, a woman was allegedly raped late last night and her family was robbed by five unidentified persons in Vaishali Nagar area, police said.
