Market players said strong demand for soap, paint and lubricant industries amid restricted supplies from growing regions in spot markets mainly reflected an uptick in castor seed futures prices.
At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange counter, castor seed delivery for the most active March increased by Rs 22 or 0.54 per cent to Rs 4,085 per quintal, in an open interest of 42,110 lots.
The delivery of the April also moved up by Rs 22 or 0.53 per cent to Rs 4,140 per quintal, open interest stood at 26,950 lots.
