Former Indian cricketers from the city - S Ramesh, Hemang Badani and V B Chandrasekhar would be among the Tamil commentators for the T20 tournament, Sony Pictures Networks India's EVP and business head - sports clusters, Prasana Krishnan, told reporters here today.
Though the regional language commentary for the Indian Premier League had been offered for the past two years, it was being made available on the ESPN platform this time, he said.
He further said commentary in the local language had helped the TV network to connect with the regional audiences (which also includes Telugu and Bengali).
He said Sony Pictures had garnered 361 million viewers in the ninth edition of IPL and expressed hope it would show an upward graph this year too.
Also, he said Sony Pictures had come up with a new ad campaign aimed at the regional markets.
