CBI sleuths today arrested the
manager of the Kishanganj branch of Bank of India (BOI) in Bihar on a charge of taking a bribe of Rs 12,000 to pass a group loan.
CBI Deputy Inspector General (DIG) V K Singh said, "One Kasif Ahmad had faxed a complaint to us on September 22 that the branch manager Om Prakash and his bank agent Mamata Jain was demanding money...To pass a group loan."
Singh said the complaint was verified by the sleuths yesterday and after filing an FIR, a team from CBI's Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) caught the branch manager today as he was accepting the graft for two persons.
The branch was about 370 km from the state capital.
The CBI DIG said that the complaint was a result of encouraging the public to inform about bribery demands via SMS.
