CBI officer probing Rajiv Gandhi assassination case promoted

Senior IPS officer Manish Kishore Sinha, who is in charge of the CBI unit probing larger conspiracy related to the assassination of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, was today promoted as Joint Director in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Sinha, a Deputy Inspector General-level officer in CBI, is heading the Multi-Disciplinary Monitoring Agency (MDMA) Zone of the agency. MDMA is probing Gandhi's assassination.
He is a 1996-batch IPS officer of Jammu and Kashmir cadre.
Besides Sinha, three other IPS officers -- Navin Kumar Singh, Shankha Brata Bagchi and Bhanu Bhaskar -- have also been promoted as Joint Director in the CBI, an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training said.
Singh and Bagchi are working in Anti-Corruption Branch and Special Crime unit of the agency in Kolkata. Whereas, Bhaskar is working in the CBI Training Academy in Ghaziabad.
All of them are 1996-batch IPS officers.
