Centre asks states to achieve objectives of PMAGY

Union Minister Thaawar Chand Gehlot today asked state governments to make all-out efforts to achieve the objectives of Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram Yojana (PMAGY) in the country.
The Union Social Justice Minister reviewed PMAGY during the second meeting of the Central Advisory Committee here, according to a press release.
The meeting was organised to review the progress of implementation of PMAGY in 1,000 selected villages in five states, where PMAGY is being implemented, it said.
Presently the scheme is being implemented in Assam, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu, selected from five geographical regions of the country.
From each state, except for Assam, 225 villages are being covered under the scheme. 100 villages have been selected in Assam, the release said.

The objective of the scheme is integrated development of the villages, primarily through convergent implementation of the relevant Central and state schemes and providing these villages gap-filling funds to the tune of Rs 20 lakh on an average basis, said the release.
