The Madhya Pradesh government on Monday signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Centre and MP Metro Rail Corporation (MPMRC) to build metro rail systems in Bhopal and Indore, an official said.
The Public Relations Department official said the MoU was signed in the presence of Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and MP Urban Development and Housing Minister Jaivardhan Singh.
"An MoU was signed between the Union government, MP government and MPMRC at New Delhi on Monday for Bhopal and Indore metro rail projects. Bhopal will have two metro rail corridors of 27.87 kilometres while Indore will have a 31.55 km ring metro line," he informed.
Giving details of the Rs 6,941.40 crore Bhopal network, he said one corridor will be from Karond Circle to AIIMS covering a length of 14.99 km while another one would be 12.88 km long from Bhadbhada Square to Ratnagiri Square.
The Indore line, estimated to cost Rs 7,500.80 crore, will be from Bengali Chauraha to Palasia via Vijaynagar, Bhanwarkua and the airport, he added.
