"We are looking for a meeting with all chief ministers in the north east to be headed by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, the interstate council, where we will take certain strategic decisions (on key issues pertaining to security)," Rijiju told reporters here.
He said the decision to convene the meeting was held recently during the joint intelligence committee meeting which he chaired, where various intelligence agencies shared strategic information key to security.
Earlier, the Union home minister chaired a review meeting with central armed forces and the state government at the Secretariat after calling on Governor K K Paul at the Raj Bhavan.
In the morning, Union Home Minister visited a border outpost of Border Security Force at Dawki, in West Jaintia Hills District to inspect and review the security along the Indo-Bangladesh International Border.
