"The ESI hospital at Bhubaneswar will soon be upgraded into a super-speciality medical facility in the next two months and provided with all modern gadgets," Union Labour and Employment Minister Bandaru Dattatreya told reporters here.
Stating that major expansion work would be undertaken at the hospital, the Minister said the number of beds would be increased to 100 from its present strength of 50.
Dattatreya, who went around the hospital and interacted with the doctors as well as patients, said necessary steps would be taken to provide modern and high-tech medical equipment at the hospital.
About starting an ESIC medical college at the hospital here, the Union Minister said it would not be possible to do so in the immediate future due to certain limitations.
Dattatreya said as of now the number of insured persons in Odisha was below the requisite figure.
