Chana futures up by 0.50% on pick up in demand

Chana prices were up by 0.50 per cent to Rs 4,412 per quintal in futures trading today as participants widened their positions, driven by pick up in demand against tight supplies from producing regions.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in May month up by Rs 22, or 0.50 per cent to Rs 4,412 per quintal with an open interest of 9,520 lots.
Likewise, the commodity for delivery in April contracts gained Rs 20 or 0.46 per cent to Rs 4,349 per quintal in 29,040 lots.
Analysts attributed rise in chana futures prices to uptick in demand in the spot market against restricted supplies from producing belts.
