Chana prices went up by 1.50 per cent to Rs 4,038 per quintal in futures market Thursday as traders increased their holdings on account of rising demand at domestic spot market.

Besides, restricted arrivals of the commodity in the physical market influenced the prices.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in October was trading higher by Rs 60, or 1.50 per cent, to Rs 4,038 per quintal with an open interest of 52,890 lots.

Likewise, the commodity for November gained Rs 55, or 1.37 per cent, to Rs 4,069 per quintal in 22,890 lots.

Traders said widening of bets by speculators, tracking a rising demand from millers against tight supplies from growing regions at the domestic spot market, led to the rise in chana prices in futures trade here.
