Chandigarh University will sponsor meritorious students, hailing from the national capital and adjoining areas such as Noida and Gurgaon and having poor financial backgrounds, who want to pursue higher studies.
Announcing the initiative 'Super Achiever Scholarship scheme', varsity authorities said any student who has scored 80 per cent and above in 10+2 or graduation in any stream and hails from Delhi NCR is eligible to apply for scholarship of up to 100 per cent.
"We often hear stories of bright but economically weak students in dire straits after scoring well in examinations. We have floated this scheme to encourage merit," the university's spokesperson Ravi Sinha told a press conference.
The university, which is state government approved and autonomous, has recently started a number of courses in varied areas such as cloud computing, fashion designing, gaming and visual effects.
