Thirty seven people, including former BSP district chief Kamal Gautam and Bhim Sena district chief Upkar Bawra, have been chargesheeted by the police in connection with the violence that broke out here in April this year.
The charge sheet was filed in a court here in connection with violence during Dalit agitation. The additional chief judicial magistrate has fixed July 17 as the date for further hearing in the case, an official said.
Police had registered a case against several leaders of Dalit groups and others for allegedly inciting violence in the region during a country wideprotestagainst the alleged dilution of the SC/ST Act.
There was violence in the New Mandi area here on April 2.
