Chargesheet filed against Gautam Deb

The CID filed a chargesheet against CPI(M) central committee member Gautam Deb today in connection with the irregularities allegedly committed by him along with others as the housing minister during the previous Left Front government's regime.
"We have filed a chargesheet against 17 persons, including Gautam Deb in regard to the investigation of major financial irregularities found in the transaction of the Bengal Greenfield Housing Development Corporation Limited," ADG (CID) Sivaji Ghosh told PTI.
Asked whether Deb, a secretariat member of the CPI-M's West Bengal state committee, will be arrested, Ghosh refused to comment.
Deb was summoned by the CID twice for questioning in connection with the case a few months ago.

Earlier this year, the state housing department had lodged a complaint with the police alleging that major financial irregularities had been found in transaction of the Bengal Greenfield Housing Development Corporation Limited.
The company was one of the eight real estate firms with which the Left Front government had entered into a joint venture.
