: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivaraj Chauhan should step down to pave the way for a free and fair CBI probe into the Vyaapam scam, CPI said here today.
Terming as 'good' his decision to seek a CBI probe into the issue, CPI Central Committee member D Pandian and Tamil Nadu party unit secretary Mutharasan told reporters that unless Chaushan resigned as CM there would not be any possibility of neutrality in the probe.
It was not easy to investigate the case, in which 46 persons had died and stepping down would pave the way for a free investigation, they said.
On the IPL scam, Pandian said that considering the larger dimensions of corruption and alleged involvement of many politicians and bigwigs, Lalit Modi should be brought to India and questioned about his links with Sushma Swaraj, Vasundhara Raje and even Priyanka and Robert Vadra.
This should be done by setting up a special court, as in the 2G Spectrum scam by the Supreme Court, he said, adding that the alleged fake degree issue of Union HRD minister, Smrithi Irani should also be investigated.
Likening auction of players in IPL as human trade and a national shame,he alleged that corruption in cricket was going on for the last 30 years. Government should step in and streamline functioning of Board of Control for Cricket in India by stipulating the code of ethics and guidelines.
On caste base census, they said there was no point in keeping it a secret document and should be released at once.
Asked about Mullaperiyar and Cauvery issues, Pandian said the Centre should protect the rights of Tamil Nadu, as per the Court and tribunal verdicts.
