Two members of a gang that was involved in cheating job seekers with fake visas to Gulf countries have been arrested and 42 bogus passports and a forged stamp of Kuwait embassy recovered from them, police said today.
A complaint was received at Shakarpur police station in east Delhi, from a Ghaziabad resident Nasruddin on January 24.
He had contacted Alfa Enterprises run by the accused in Choudhary Complex in Shakarpur, for visa to go to Dubai for a job in September 2016, said Omvir Singh, DCP (east).
The complainant had met accused Qumesh and his partner Junaid. He had paid Rs 84,000 as advance for visa to Dubai and submitted all the four passports to the accused.
Later, visas were provided to the complainant but when he contacted Saudi Arabian embassy he discovered that no visas were issued in their names. Also, when he visited the office of the accused in Shakarpur, it was closed down.
During investigation, police zeroed in on accused Qumesh Ahmed and his partner Junid Ahmed, residents of Loni, who were found to be involved in cheating through bogus companies providing fake documents to job seekers wishing to go to Gulf countries, for a decade, he said.
On specific information, Qumesh was arrested from Loni on January 24 while Junaid was arrested from Laxmi Nagar in east Delhi next day, he said.
Qumesh was found to be a proclaimed offender in a case of cheating registered at Shakarpur police station in 2011, he added.
