Check population growth rate for improvement of society: UP CM

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today stressed on the need to check population growth for the improvement of society and nation.
"Controlling population is a must for the betterment of society...If we have to give the right momentum to the development of the state, we will have to keep the population growth rate under check," Akhilesh said at a function organised on the occasion of World Population Day.
The chief minsiter said it was essential that awareness is raised among people about population control and that small family is the basis of happiness.
On the occasion, the chief minister flagged off a "Jagrookta Rally " (awareness rally) and inaugurated a "Jansankhya Sthirta Pakhwara" (population stability fortnight) between July 11 to 20.

He also issued a CD depicting the importance of small family and launched a signature campaign resolving to provide a healthy and prosperous life to people of the state.
