"The Directorate of Tourism is organising a three day long event- Chenab Challenge - River Rafting Championship - 2016 from 10 March to 12 March 2016 at Baradari, Reasi to promote adventure sports in remote areas of Jammu and Kashmir," PRO Defence Northern Command said.
"Eleven teams are participating in the event which includes a 16-member Indian Army rafting team and two local teams from Reasi," he added.
Naik Singh has won many accolades in White Water Rafting, which also includes participation in Indian Cup, Indo-Bangladesh Shyok River Rafting expedition.
"Havildar Yogesh KN, who has represented India in World Rafting championship, Indo-Australian Joint expedition and has won multiple accolades, has appreciated the initiative taken by Tourism Department Jammu and Kashmir for organising this national level sport," PRO said.
He is keenly looking forward to participate in the event, he said. Besides Two Army Adventure teams and Air Force team, BSF, ITBP, JKP, two locals teams from Reasi, one team each from Directorate of Tourism, Jammu region and Kashmir region and an women's team from Ladakh will participate in the championship.
Conduct of National level event will highlight Reasi township on the national calendar and would usher in development in the area.
