Steering clear of queries on his possible induction in the UDF cabinet, KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala today said he would not comment on the matter as it is before the Congress High Command but admitted that such an issue had cropped up in the party's state unit.
"The high command is seized of the matter. When the matter is before the high command I am not in a position to answer your questions," Chennithala told reporters on queries on the turbulence in the state unit over issue of being accommodated in the Oommen Chandy ministry with an important portfolio.
"It is true that there have been informal discussions in the state unit.I would not dub it entirely as media speculation.I have my personal views on the issue and I will spell them out at the appropriate forum at the appropriate time. It is not proper on my part to discuss it in the open," he said.
Chennithala said he considered the KPCC presidentship as a bigger position than a ministerial berth. But it would not mean that he would shy away from any task entrusted on him by the high command, he said.
Holding that he had not run after any position in the party during his career starting as a campus activist, he said he was fortunate that the party leadership had entrusted him important assignments from time to time.
He said work for Congress had earned him a space in the minds of party workers and followers and no one would be able to deny him that space.
Chennithala said he was prepared to apologise to Congress workers if they felt hurt and the issue had caused internal commotions in the party.
