Following his daughter's declaration, Cheran prostrated outside the court hall and court complex.
A division bench comprising Justices V Dhanapalan and C T Selvam observed that Damini is at liberty to go as per her wish as she is a major and dismissed a Haebas Corpus petition filed by the mother of her boyfriend.
On August 6, the court had directed Damini to stay with the headmistress of a city school till today.
Counsel for her boyfriend opposed it and said she required counselling.
The bench also rejected a fresh affidavit filed by Easwari Ammal, mother of Damini's boyfriend Chandru, which claimed the girl was under pressure.
Later, Cheran told reporters it was not only a victory for him but for every parent and every woman and prostrated outside the court hall and court premises, thanking the High Court and media.
He said the High Court has dismissed the case against his daughter and she realised her mistake.
Mother of Damini's boyfriend had filed a Habeas Corpus in the High Court, challenging the order of DCP, All Women Police Station to make Damini stay at a government home at Mylapore here.
